Manager is responsible for the on-premise implementation and
administration of the organization's Information Technology
systems, including desktop, server hardware, operating systems, and
applications. This includes analyzing and resolving complex
problems associated with server hardware, security, and server
application software. This position also provides direct support
for hardware/software setup, trouble ticket resolution, and
helpdesk management. This position requires establishing rapport
and excellent relationships with Senior Management, vendors, and
carriers. This position will also act as a liaison between other
Information Technology teams in affiliated companies. This position
will also be recognized as a SME in Second Avenue for IT with
comprehensive knowledge and experience; working under minimal
supervision. This position reports to the COO of Second Avenue and
is based in Second Avenue's Chicago office in the Loop.Duties and
Responsibilities
- Manage all IT projects for Second Avenue ("the Company") and
support Senior Management in approving IT decisions and
expenditures for systems expansions and upgrades.
- Advise Senior Management on IT security policies and
procedures; implement standard IT policies throughout the
organization.
- Directly work on the setup of laptops, desktops, network
switches, and other hardware to support the day-to-day operations
of this business; set up conference room communication
hardware.
- Implement security protocols and requisite security software;
perform ongoing security assessments of systems.
- Assist all levels of managers in the Company, providing
direction and leadership on technology issues as
needed/directed.
- Maximize network performance by monitoring performance,
troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades,
and collaborating with IT managers in affiliated companies on
network optimization.
- Develop the technology architecture for the Company's IT
systems, including but not limited to hardware, software,
networking, systems, and support processes and procedures.
- Perform switch and firewall configurations; perform heat
mapping of Wifi in offices.
- Work closely with IT managers in affiliated companies to plan,
develop, design, and strategize an architecture that will benefit
the organization as a whole.
- Assess new technologies and appraise Senior Management of
changes that may be appropriate to the mission of the Company.
- Maintain SME Responsibility for configuring, documenting,
implementing, and troubleshooting the following software products:
Microsoft Server Operating Systems and Email Systems, Storage Area
Network, Backup products, Anti-Virus products, and Anti-SPAM
products.
- Manage and monitor Cisco Unified Communications Solutions,
Voice Over IP, Call Manager, Voicemail, and Call Center.
- Administer the server operating, messaging infrastructure, and
storage area network; oversee daily backup of server data files,
media, and offsite storage administration.
- Foster a positive team environment and assist superiors with
the direction of team dynamics.
- Ensure confidentiality of internal and external data.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as
assigned.Qualifications
- In-depth hands-on technical knowledge and experience with
network equipment, dynamic routing protocols, WAN, LAN, firewalls,
and voice technologies.
- In-depth hands-on technical knowledge and experience with
server equipment, virtual hosts and servers, SAN/NAS, Backup
appliances, and security software or appliances.
- Technical background on IBM PC/AT compatible type of hardware
and peripherals.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, SMTP protocol,
DHCP, TCP/IP, WINS, and DNS.
- Project Management Disciplines & Tools.
- Strong emphasis on documentation creation, curation, and
management as directed.
- Able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and
coach, mentor, and lead less experienced individuals.
- Proficient in all people management processes, including
recruitment, performance management, and reward.
- Proficient in building, growing, and developing a team;
including department structure design and resourcing.
- Proficient in coaching and developing individual team members
to reach their potential.
- Proficient in engaging a team through communication, processes,
personal impact, and influence.Education and Experience
- BS in computer-related field or equivalent experience.
- Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of experience with:
- Ethernet network environment and peripherals.
- Cisco Unified Communications Solutions; Voice Over IP.
- HP, IBM, or Dell servers.
- VMWare or Hyper-V.
- Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016.
- Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016 or Office 365.
- Providing customer service support network monitoring
tools.
- Experience with disaster recovery and planning concepts.Job
